Who I am

A smiling white person with purple hair and a plaid shirt. There's a cockatiel napping on their shoulder.

Hi, I’m Coral Sheldon-Hess.

This is me ➡

I dig birds, coffee, good user experience/accessibility, data privacy, native plants, and autumn.

My partner, two cockatiels, two budgies, and I live within the unceded ancestral homeland of the Onöndowa’ga; this land is also known as western New York, USA.

In the work world I’m technology teacher, data analyst, web developer, and librarian with a spare masters degree in electrical and computer engineering. I pride myself on writing good documentation. I work and volunteer fully remotely now and for the foreseeable future, which is fine: I’ve been remote or working on projects with distributed teams since the mid-aughts. More details about my work experience are available on the What I do page or my CV (on GitHub).

In my spare time I enjoy crafting, brewing up herbal remedies, reading, playing cozy video games, gardening, bicycling, and bird-watching. I make crocheted items, chainmaille jewelry, candles, painted rocks, and various things requiring a Cricut. Right now I’m trying (again) to learn to knit socks.

If you would like to pay me to teach an online workshop on tech or crafts, to speak at your virtual-friendly event, to make you an herbal salve or something out of chainmaille, or to help you with your website, please also feel free to contact me.
