As promised, here is the link to the Circulating Ideas podcast<\/a> that Kate Kosturski, Marge Loch-Wouters, and I recorded on Mother’s Day. Many thanks to Steve Thomas for handing over his podcast for an episode! :)<\/p>\n

Over all, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, though I continue to hate my recorded voice. I think you can tell, when listening, that Marge and I didn’t know what the questions were going to be ahead of time; while that made it fun, in a seat-of-the-pants kind of way, I might ask to peek at the questions beforehand, if I’m ever lucky enough to be in a similar situation. I’m working on getting better at extemporizing, but I prefer to practice the skill when it’s not recorded for posterity. ;)<\/p>\n

Along those lines, I admit, one of the questions threw me a little bit off balance—and then I proceeded to throw myself more off balance, in answering it. (Steve has audio editing equipment. If I hadn’t been so thrown, I might have asked if we could edit that out, and I could try again. But it didn’t even occur to me at the time. In thinking back, I think I know of somewhere he did edit, because he’s awesome.) Still, in the scheme of things, I guess it just, um, made it all more interesting. <\/p>\n

Anyway, I don’t want to focus this post on beating myself up. I don’t feel that<\/em> bad about it, really. I think it’s a good podcast, overall! We touched on a lot of issues that are important to me, and I could tell that many of the same issues (and a few different ones) were important to Marge and Kate, as well. I’m glad the discussion ended up being as far-ranging as it was. I learned some things, definitely! <\/p>\n
